To Bring

Your practice mat and pieces, your full table (if desired), an extension cord and power strip. There will not be an outlet at every table.

What to Expect:

When you arrive, teams will be assigned a pit table in the upper gymnasium. They will be given their scheduled judging times and practice match schedule. In the morning you will have 10 minutes on an official table and you will have your three judging sessions back to back. Expect to bring all of the items needed for judging and you will be escorted to the judging hall. 2 adults may accompany the group down to the judging rooms. They will wait outside with your supplies. Adults will not be allowed to videotape or enter the judging rooms. Adult presence distracts both the judges and the students, not usually intentionally. Expect to be away from the pit for 1 hour 15 minutes for judging.  Your practice times will either be before or after judging. Bring your computer and your robot to the practice table. The referees will be there to score your practice matches if desired. We will have a brief coaches meeting at 12:45 before opening ceremonies.

Opening ceremonies will take place for 15 minutes. You will be introduced to the judges and referees. We will then hold three rounds; you will have a match approximately once per hour. We will have a head referee watching the tables, with at least 2 other referees at each table. We will have four sets of tables (2 tables each). The algorithm randomly assigns you to the match schedule and table, which you will receive in the morning once all of the teams have checked in. If we have an odd number of teams, we will ask for surrogate teams to run a match opposite them for no points. The “driver” of your robot needs to sign the sheet and take it back. The young team members will be allowed inside of the ropes if they are tagging out, otherwise, we set up the ropes around the table and the adults will have a clear view of the match. If you are sitting in the stands, it will probably be difficult to see the entire match. Your team will be given their judging sheets during closing ceremonies.
